Phone Recycling

First of all let us understand the meaning of the term ‘recycle’. Recycle means to convert wastes into reusable things/materials or new materials. It is an alternative which saves consumption of many items, things, saves consumption of electricity and other raw materials. Now the term comes in is ‘mobile recycle’. As the name says, this simply means to recycle old mobile phones into new ones or may be other useful things which can be made out of mobile phones.
Mobiles phones have become a necessity and thus cannot be avoided. With the changing scenario and changing technology at a faster speed, these mobile phones have become too popular even amongst the children. With the changing technology, in every few months new models of mobile phones are being launched, with the older versions being recycled.
Now everybody wonders that what to do with the old mobile phones, when the new ones are out in the market so soon. Mobile phones are the most hazardous wastes which causes threat to human life.
Mobile phones are considered as hazardous waste not only in California but in all parts of the world. It is though unknown to everybody that mobile phone batteries contain dangerous and hazardous chemicals which can lead to leakage from the phone battery if not changed from time to time. Many chemicals in such phones leach from landfills into the groundwater system. Environmental advocacy group Greenpeace claims that the soldering of the iPhone battery into its handset hinders its being recycled. Mobile phones currently pose a bigger problem for numerous countries around the world. Manufacturers and agencies are slowly adopting new ways in an effort to curtail the amount of waste that has been rising over the recent years. Many countries are in favor of phone recycle, which is step taken by numerous countries for the betterment of their people and environment.
There is this country, Australia which has very recently launched a national recycling program which has been established under the name of Mobile Muster. This program has already been on a successful trial in one of the states in Australia itself. This recycling program was launched in 1998. Its main focus is centered on the recycling of mobile phones, batteries and any related accessories. They have collaborated with over 1,500 retailers, local councils, government agencies and other various businesses in their recycling of mobiles and mobile related stuff. And the government at the same time is putting in all the efforts required to recycle. Almost a decade ago, in 2005 Mobile Muster launched a campaign that gathered statistical data showing almost 40% of the Australian population was aware of the option to recycle their mobile devices and its accessories. The greatest benefit that arose from this research was the simple fact that raising public awareness of a recycling program which lead to a large numbers of devices being recycled. The reasoning behind this is that phone recycling leads a decreased amount of resources being extracted from the environment, therefore minimizing the environmental pollution.
